The Wife Upstairs

The story follows Jane, a broke dog-walker in a wealthy Alabama gated community called Thornfield Estates. She meets Eddie Rochester, a rich, handsome widower whose wife, Bea, supposedly drowned in a tragic boating accident. As Jane maneuvers her way into Eddie’s life and luxury, she realizes that the "ghost" of Bea hasn't quite left the house. The novel is a twisty, "creepy" exploration of what happens when the person you're trying to replace isn't as dead as you thought—and what people are willing to do to "own" a life that isn't theirs.
