n this suspenseful character study, Mexican-American lawyer Tom Aragon is drawn into a complex missing persons case. The story begins when Cleo Jasper, a beautiful but simple-minded young heiress, visits Aragon’s office to inquire about her legal rights. Shortly after, she vanishes from her exclusive school for "exceptional" children.

Cleo’s protective older brother, Hilton, hires Aragon to find her, but the investigation quickly takes a dark turn. Aragon discovers the body of one of Cleo's teachers in a seedy trailer park, surrounded by questionable suicide notes. As Aragon follows Cleo's trail, he must determine if she is a helpless victim or a source of unintentional destruction.
