Lothaire

The story follows Lothaire, an ancient, ruthless, and increasingly unstable vampire known as the "Enemy of Old." Driven by a millennia-old quest for revenge and a desire to seize the throne of the vampire Horde, Lothaire believes his salvation lies in finding his "fated mate"—a woman whose presence will restore his humanity and sanity. He finds her in Elizabeth "Ellie" Peirce, a young, impoverished mortal from the Appalachian Mountains who is currently possessed by Saroya, an ancient and malevolent goddess of death.
