The war against Valentine Morgenstern is over, and fifteen-year-old Clary Fray is back in New York, training to become a Shadowhunter. But the peace is short-lived. A new threat emerges: someone is systematically murdering Shadowhunters and leaving their bodies arranged in mockery of the Accords, sparking tension between the Shadowhunters and the Downworlders. Meanwhile, Jace Wayland begins to suffer from terrifying, prophetic nightmares, and his relationship with Clary is strained by mysterious, inexplicable shifts in his behavior that threaten to tear them apart.
